Discover the serene beauty of Margalla Hills, your gateway to nature's tranquility. The British peerage system is very hierarchical and one of the oldest continuous peerages. The first recorded peer in Britain was Lord Beauchamp of Holt, who was made a peer by King Richard II sometime in the late 1300s. The peerage system has both hereditary titles and lifetime titles that form the British aristocracy. Hereditary titles are passed down through the first-born male of the family bloodline. However, it can go to the next male in the family line if there were no children of the noble or their children had died first. A lifetime title is granted to a person for their life only; their children cannot use it once that person passes.
